By Julia Silberman
After three years in education, I found myself professionally seeking something different. While I loved working with students and valued the impact I made in the classroom, I knew it was time for a change. I wanted a career that allowed me to continue being creative, but in a new environment. One where I could work on projects, collaborate with other professionals, and see results outside of the school setting. That is what led me to marketing and communications.
What I Worked On
During my time at The Communication Solutions Group, I was given the chance to truly immerse myself in the field. I worked on a variety of tasks that pushed me to learn quickly and get comfortable with new tools and expectations. I created press releases, designed social media graphics, edited video content for websites, and even joined in on client photo shoots. Every project tapped into a different creative strength and reminded me just how transferable my teaching skills truly are. Whether it was planning, presenting, communicating, or creating, each one found its place in this new environment.
A Decision That Felt Right

What really validated my decision to switch careers was how energized I felt by the work. The fast-paced, professional environment was exciting, and I loved that every project challenged me in a new way. Instead of lesson plans, I was developing brand messaging. Instead of classroom posters, I was designing digital graphics for different companies. And instead of teaching students, I was learning from mentors and clients. It is clear that Communication Solutions facilitated an environment where my creativity could thrive and where I could keep growing in ways that felt both meaningful and motivating.
Favorite Projects
Out of everything that I worked on, creating graphics for social media stood out as a favorite. I enjoyed the challenge of translating a message into a visual that could capture attention quickly and clearly. Playing with colors, layouts, and programs like Canva gave me a chance to apply creativity in a practical way, always with the audience and purpose in mind. It reminded me of the satisfaction I found in designing classroom materials, but with a new focus and a wider audience.
Looking Ahead
I’m proud of the leap I took into marketing. It is not always easy to leave something familiar behind, but this experience reassured me that change can lead to growth. I have found a new professional path where I can continue to create, connect, and contribute in meaningful ways, and I am excited for what is next. Thank you, Communication Solutions!
