Leza Raffel, president and founder of Jenkintown-based Communication
Solutions Group, Inc. has been selected by Governor Edward G. Rendell today as one of
Pennsylvania's “Best 50 Women in Business.” He called Raffel and 49 others “terrific examples
of Pennsylvania's brightest business minds and role models for anyone who aspires to succeed.”
“Pennsylvania and the communities in which these award winners work
are better because of them, and I encourage Pennsylvania’s young people to follow their
lead,” the Governor said.
An independent panel of judges selected this year’s award winners based
on their dedication to business growth, professional and personal accomplishments, community
involvement, and advocacy for women in business.
Raffel, who founded her full service public relations and marketing company in
1991, focuses on the distinct communication needs of nonprofit associations, educational
institutions and municipalities. A recent initiative handled by her firm encouraged employers to
provide paid leave for living organ donors on behalf of the American Society of Transplantation.
Also, over 35 PA school districts have utilized Communication Solutions' expertise for strategic
and crisis communications.
“Best 50” entries are open to women who live and work in Pennsylvania as an owner,
partner or other senior executive management-level position with significant decision-making authority.
This year's honorees will be invited to several events on May 11, including a reception
at the Governor's residence an evening reception at the Harrisburg Hilton, and they will be featured in business
journals throughout the state.
The contest, in its 14th year, is coordinated by the Department of Community and
Economic Development in cooperation with five regional Pennsylvania business journals.
According to Raffel, this award was a tremendous honor and she saw it as recognition
for her team rather an honor for her as an individual. “Business growth and professional accomplishments
are the products of a dynamic and engaged team of people…not a single individual,” she stressed. “
I commend my team at Communication Solutions for enabling us…as a company…to celebrate this tremendous
honor.”:
Raffel holds a B.S. in Communications from Ithaca College. She lives in Abington with
her husband and 10-year old son.
